On Thursday of last week, Outreach members (from left to right) Catherine Howley, Isabel Kojima, Julia Hines, and Maggie Perrotta volunteered at a fundraiser for an organization called ASAPROSAR.

ASAPROSAR is based in El Salvador and was founded by the first woman doctor in the country, Dr. Vicki Guzman. She has dedicated her life to providing health care, education, and economic opportunities to the poor communities in her home country. ASAPROSAR has many programs that help with this including a microcredit program that provides loans to women who are shut out of the banking system in El Salvador. The microcredit program allows women to become entrepreneurs and have a steady income.

On Thursday, Dr. Guzman came to the North Shore to speak at the fundraiser which was aimed to get the capital to build a new area for their after school programs. The event raised over the amount necessary and was a huge success. Outreach is proud to represent such an impactful organization and looks forward to helping in the future.
